I've had times where I couldn't export something. That is some annoying Flash crap. Luckily none of the movies/games I haven't been able to export have been any good, so I don't mind simply never exporting them. Two mega MGS Newrgounds collaborations is a different story though. Good luck with exporting!

You can cut the movie up and then use the loadMovie function, that's AS2. You probably already thought of that though.

Anyway I'm sure you guys will figure out something that works.

I would suggest building the ultimate machine with like 16GB of RAM, some sort of SLI of two 9600's, AMD Quad Core and a copy of a XP in 64x. And then using that to export the project and then having the parts returned to the store the same night.

Does it sound like a good idea? Well, I think I read the problem right.. you can't export it because all of your computers aren't hardcore enough, right? Either way I'm sure you already thought of my idea.

Oh! I just remembered that I had a similar problem when exporting a 1600x1200 resolution high detail vector drawing and couldn't ever even get it to open after a certain point and later got Flash CS3 and I was able to open it there again and export it as well. So if you haven't already, try CS3 with it, it's capable of opening Flash 8 files and re saving them in that format as well.

I'm pretty sure delaying is fine with everyone, but next time choose a different game, because not everyone has played MGS and it's not like there aren't tons of movies about it. An Oni collab, or a nintendo collab would be awesome. But yes, that's for later. Plus you probably don't have the time to read this anyways.

dont worry this is the bggest project to hit newgrounds its obvuisly a f**king huge file and im thanking you for taking it head on. im not part of it but i have a fealling itll be great. your doing a good thing for newgrounds. so just do the best your can. and you might be able to find some coding software to make the file smaller but it might not even give you a flash file but tis worth a shot if you havent tried it yet.

i'm sure you probably thought of millions of ideas to correct the problem but here's another: maybe if you cut it into pieces and export it, and then embed all the clips into a master swf it would work. it's just a theory though, no guarantee.

He'll probably update the status for his newest front page post (like six days or so), so just chill out, keep on flashing (in more ways than one) and look forward to the next collab (I hope I'll qualify for it by then, I'm working on some hopefully awesome stuff right now, I don't wanna submit crap to the portal, and of course you need at least three submissions to get into a collab).

Stamper, there is one thing you should consider. One of the entries might have a malicious actionscript virus that prevents it from exporting. I don't know how you would go around trying to solve the problem. Maybe someone with multiple submissions has the virus embedded in their movie? Perhaps you can remove each individual animation and try to export it?

Shit, it has been over a month now. I was going to complete an animation submit it, but the deadline came and I suppose that you could have taken in more submissions...

You should announce the next collab so that I can start on my piece. : (
